S Luke, Prittlewell. Chelmsford Diocese. Full time

Ss Peter & Paul, King's Sutton. Peterborough Diocese

Kings Sutton

The SMF and Mr John Townsend are joint patrons of this rural two-parish benefice in south-west Northamptonshire. The nearest town, Banbury, is five miles way, and direct trains to Birmingham, Oxford and London leave from Kings Sutton station.

King's Sutton has a population of around 3,000. The church of St Peter and St Paul was completed in the 14th century and has one of the finest spires in the country. Worship is in the Anglo-Catholic tradition, supported by a choir. Episcopal ministry in the parish is received from the Bishop of Richborough.

St James's Church Newbottle also serves the neighbouring village of Charlton, with a population of about 500. Sunday services alternate between Matins and Sung Eucharit, and the parish has a thriving church school.

The benefice profile can be downloaded via the link below. A welcome letter to clergy from the Bishop of Peterborough can be found here.

The post will be advertised formally in January, and interviews are expected to take place in the third week of February.

Please contact the General Secretary to express an interest.

S Peter Folkestone

Mission Priest (Priest-in-Charge)

(under the episcopal care of the Bishop of Richborough)

The Bishop of Dover and the Patron wish to appoint a mission-minded priest in the Catholic tradition to be Mission Priest (Priest-in-Charge) for S. Peter’s. This is an innovative role, jointly funded by the Diocese and the Forward in Folkestone Foundation, for a full-time priest to lead the parish as it continues to grow in numbers and confidence after a time of rebuilding, both physically and spiritually.

Our new priest will be a man who

  • wants to care for all in our parish and those who visit;

  • will engage with the entire community to witness to the faith;

  • has the Christian courage, confidence and charisma to lead, renew and inspire;

  • understands liturgy and Catholic tradition and how it can speak to all people today;

  • is a priest of the Society, or in sympathy with its aims.

    What we can offer:

  • a church filled with real presence, where the Holy Spirit is at work, ripe for teaching and

  • a strong team of laity and retired clergy who await your leadership but will care for you, too;

  • a challenge! Our parish is one with much potential but also has much hidden deprivation

    and complex needs;

  • A famous Anglo-Catholic mission church, newly restored, which serves as a beacon of faith

    across Folkestone and southeast Kent.

    The parish has passed the Resolution under the House of Bishops’ Declaration on the Ministry of Bishops and Priests.

    Closing date: 03/03/2019 Interviews: 18/03/2019
